Best Wireless Microphone For Church – A Quick Glance

My Favorite Wireless Mics

Shure AD2/K9B-G57 Axient Digital

Shure AD2

The Shure AD2 is a really good option, but it is on the more expensive side for a wireless system. This system is made for the most congested environments for musicians. If you are using this in a church, you shouldn’t have any problems as the technology in this system is fantastic.

Shure QLXD24/B87A-V50

XLD24 design

The Shure QLXD24 is a great wireless system for church and also for live concerts in general. It includes a B87A microphone which is also really nice.

The microphone is all metal and has a very solid feel when you hold it in your hand. This microphone is recommended for worship because it is sure to give you clean, uninterrupted performances. It comes with an interchangeable microphone capsule for more flexibility as well.

Sennheiser EW 500-945 G4 Wireless Handheld Microphone System

Shure EW 500 945

The Sennheiser EW 500-945 is a great look at a cheaper, yet fantastic option. I really like this series and it makes a lot of sense for something like church. This system eliminates a lot of feedback and the good thing about all of the wireless microphones we’re looking at it is most of them do a good job at this. A lot of musicians swear by this system as their holy grail.

Sennheiser EW 100 G4-935-S Wireless Handheld Microphone System

Sennheiser EW 100

I included this option even though it’s on the cheaper side because I want you to have the option to spend a little less if you don’t have the budget.

This option isn’t going to be as great as the other three mentioned, but it still beats what most of the people mentioning wireless mics are talking about. Sennheiser does a great job at eliminating feedback and this wireless microphone also does a good job of that.

Things To Consider With Wireless Microphones

Number Of Channels:

The number of channels on your wireless system directly correlates with how many microphones you want to use. If you have 10 microphones that you want to use, you will want to have at least 10 channels to take advantage of the 10 microphones.

Range:

The range is very important when considering the best microphones for the church because this will determine how far away you can go from the receiver. This completely depends on what you are using the microphone for. If you are doing a sermon and want the freedom to walk around then you will want to have an idea of how far you will be going away from your system.

If you will be going in between the crowd or behind obstacles, make sure that your wireless system is capable of going double the actual distance that you will be going away from your system.

Price:

You will see a lot of wireless microphones that are cheap, but these are nothing more than just toys. If you see people reviewing these and saying they are quality it is a complete lie. These microphones are expensive and you will most likely be spending at least $500 if you want anything that is worth your time.

Brands:

Sennheiser and Shure are probably the best companies to look for. These companies are very professional and have been making quality wireless microphones for the highest level of musicians for years. We will only be looking at these brands because we believe these are the best choices you can pick from.

Battery Life:

This is important because they’re not all going to give you the same amount of life. You will typically be using AA batteries to power and you want to make sure you’re getting the best battery life so you don’t spend a ton of money on batteries.

Analog Vs. Digital:

Typically digital systems will give you less noise than the analog systems. If you need to encrypt the signal you will need to go with a digital system over an analog system.

Why use a wireless mic instead of a wired mic?

If you’re working in a church then there’s a good chance you’re going to want to have the ability to move while you’re talking or singing. Having a wireless system gives you this advantage and freedom while you work. Wireless systems have gotten better over the years and they continue to improve with technology.

Is a cheap wireless system worth it?

Absolutely not. Wireless audio is one thing you do not want to skimp out on. I have purchased two different wireless systems that were on the cheaper side of the spectrum and I had to send them both back. The frequencies and signals are very weak on the cheap wireless systems. Spend a little bit more money on this and never have to worry about the signal cutting in and out.

I have personally owned cheaper wireless microphone systems and it was a horrible experience. My band recently bought a middle of the road system that we thought would work for touring in smaller clubs. This was not the case. We ended up not even being able to rehearse with it because it immediately starting cutting in and out while we were performing.

The last thing you want to be doing in church is to be speaking or singing and have a microphone that keeps cutting in and out. This is one of the most frustrating problems to have and I don’t wish this upon anyone.

Conclusion

We have presented you with options that are quality while still trying to be on the cheaper side. The thing is, with audio you don’t want to buy cheap products, especially for a wireless microphone for church use.

You will end up spending so much more money in the long run and anyone who is familiar with audio will second this. If you are a big fan of Bluetooth technology, you can check out our guide to the best Bluetooth MIDI controller here.

  1. Hi,
I play keyboard/accordion for church in south India..I was actually searching for MIDI info to be used in a church context, your musical tips seem to be helpful, thanks..I have a Roland XPS 30 which has 128 voice polyphony which sounds neat..was curious to know if there’s a 256 voice polyphony economy synth which great pianos, strings alongwith a sampler to record/play Harmonium patches..The Roland Jupiter-80 is an amazing synth, but the cost is on the higher side.

    Thanks,
    Malachi
