I believe that that are a few awesome places to buy digital pianos online and these places might not be the ones that you expect.
I’ve spent the last 6 years touring in a band and watching the music world change and become more digital. With this, came more places to buy and view music equipment online.
I this article, we are going to go over the best places to buy a digital piano online and explain what we love and dislike.
One thing that I believe firmly now is that I would much rather buy a piece of equipment after reading reviews, watching tutorials online, and comparing it to others, rather than going into a store like Guitar Center.
Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy Guitar Center, however, I find it more helpful speaking to people who are more advanced in their fields on the internet, than going in and be pitched a sale on something the person isn’t knowledgable on.
When it comes to breaking down my favorite places for musical equipment on the internet, it comes down to these ranking factors below:
- Inventory – How much equipment?
- Pricing – Financing deals
- Communication – Tech Support
- Sales Reps – People helping you decide on a purchase
- Return Policy

4 Best Places To Buy Keyboards/Digital Pianos Online
Sweetwater – Best Overall
Sweetwater is hands down my favorite retailer. I’ve been using them for years and this is the retailer that almost all professional musicians go through.
So, why do I like them so much?
Their sales team is easily the best on the web. You get the sense that they actually have a solid understanding of what they’re talking about. The reason for this is that most of them are musicians themselves who have pursued music in some way for a living.
They are extremely helpful in finding products. If you have any questions, they will link you to a bunch of different options that they recommend as well as answer any questions that you might have.
Their customer support is by far the best. You will receive answers to any questions on products that you purchase through Sweetwater.
They are very helpful in looking up technical questions and responding back to you at an appropriate time.
Sweetwater’s most appealing thing to some people is their financing. They offer up to 48 months interest-free on products. I, personally love this and I know that a lot of musicians also do.
Sweetwater has an extremely large inventory that has pretty much every product that you would want in the music field. You won’t find that with some of the other retailers mentioned on this list.
Amazon – Most People Have Prime
If you haven’t bought musical equipment through Amazon, you might be surprised that they actually carry a large inventory. I never knew that Amazon sold a bunch of different keyboards until recently.
Amazon offers insanely fast shipping that has been extremely reliable for me. The packaging is always nice (for me) and I haven’t had anything sent with damages. With this being said, I’m sure it has happened a bunch, as it is inevitable.
You will find great deals at Amazon as they run discounts frequently.
In terms of customer support with instruments, it’s about as bad as it gets. You won’t get a timely response, and when you do, it’s likely from someone who’s never played an instrument that will just direct you to the manufacturer.
Amazon offers some great financing and they are one of the largest and most reliable e-commerce sites.

Guitar Center – All-Around Great Retailer
Guitar center has affordable prices and a huge inventory and selection. If you’re new to music, you might see the name and think they’re strictly guitars. If that’s what you’re thinking, then, yes you would be misinformed on that.
Guitar center has pretty much anything you would want musical equipment-wise and even lights.
Their customer service is pretty helpful and they will point you in the right direction.
I personally prefer Sweetwater to Guitar Center as they have a wider selection and are my helpful for musicians and beginners.
Outside of the customer service, I find the Guitar Center website to be rather clunky and slow. As someone who often looks at new gear, I always end up on Sweetwater because the website just works much better.
ZZounds – Great Selection & Customer Service
ZZounds is a great option for musicians on a budget. They offer some great financing and they have a wide variety of equipment to pick from.
You will find amazing customer support as well as a great sales team. You can chat with a salesperson immediately when going to their place.
The good thing here is that they’re not super pushy.
I hope this article helps leads you in the direction. All of these websites listed on trustworthy sites that I have personally purchased from. If I have left any websites out that you like, let me know in the comments!
